Vivid Experts - Learn the Pros' Secrets!

Vivid retain expert photographers and tour guides to host you on your holiday.

Vivid Photography Guides are photographers who have specialised in Nature and Landscape photography, and who have successfully made the transition to a fully digital workflow.

They are professional communicators who have immense experience in public speaking and education - both in Information Technology and photography.  They have formal qualifications in Information Technology or Photography or both, and are instructors in the use of digital imaging equipment and imaging software.  They are retained by Stock Photography providers to vet and critique images submitted for image quality and readiness for sale.

Importantly, without a willingness to share their knowledge openly and freely, they do not get to become Vivid Photography Guides.  They will be constantly working with the group to discuss the conditions, the light, the subject and the technical choices available.  They will point out tips and tricks that may assist, and be supportive in allowing you to experiment with equipment they may have with them (eg. filters, lenses etc.).  They generally will be carrying Canon Digital SLR equipment (eg. Canon 20D and related equipment). Look at the equipment they bring.

As Photography Guides they want you to come away with improved skills and wonderful images.  They won't be rushing you in your shooting, but will be there to support and encourage.  They will ensure that the impromptu opportunities are incorporated into the itinerary and that the wonderful light of early morning, evening and sometimes approaching storms, can be taken advantage of by all the group.

During the middle of the day on days when the light is harsh, the group will be gathered around their laptops to share the results of their work, to assess how they can improve it, to discuss image editing approaches and options, and to learn image editing techniques and workflows.   Images that the group wish to contribute and images captured by the guides will be shared on a plasma screen together with the conviviality usually found in the restaurant/bar where we will be found (if conditions allow).  A website will be available for all tour members to continue to contribute their work and share it with others - family, friends and of course other tour members.

Andrew Weller is the Principal Tour Guide, and you can view some of his work at www.actualeyes.com.au.  You can also see a recent image of his on the front page of this month's ArtState Magazine. His work has been exhibited at Galleries across Australia.  You can hear Andrew on ABC 891 Local Radio Afternoons in Adelaide where he has a regular photography segment.  Get some tips and tricks now!

Vivid Cultural Guides are full-time tour guides that lead tour groups almost every day of the year.  They are the life of the party, knowledgeable bush-men and women, outback legends in their own right as well as knowing all there is to know about the magic of the outback that the tour is visiting.  They of course are accredited tour vehicle operators, and are responsible for much of the food preparation (with as much help as we can give them) and ensuring that we are at all the best vantage points in time for the most wonderful light and magic shows.  [Important Note: For smaller groups of up to 5, it may not be viable to have both a photography and cultural guide so the photography guide will take on these responsibilities].
